Surviving the Holidays

A holiday ministry program to help people who are grieving a death. A safe, encouraging event where people “get” what you’re going through. Grief is harder around the holidays, know how to deal with the challenges.  Facing this season while grieving can sometimes feel like taking one step forward and two steps back. This 2-hour “Surviving the Holidays” event will prepare you to navigate the season’s changes.

The power of community, other people that do understand. You are not alone.  More than just practical tips, GriefShare Surviving the Holidays is a community of people who know what it’s like to walk through the holidays in grief. You will find connection and comfort in knowing you’re not alone this season.

Christmas Choir Concert

Christmas Choir Concert

It has been a tradition for many years for Village Bible Church choir to present a Christmas Concert on the first Friday of December. This year that tradition will continue on December 6, the same show will be presented at 3:00PM and 7:00PM.  The choir is made up of 45 members. Along with our in-house soloists and instrumentalists, we will have guest instrumentalists to make up an 11-piece orchestra. Sonya Chittum and Rebecca Seewald will be our guest soloists. 

The theme for the concert will be a continuation of last year’s theme, “Call His Name Jesus - Volume II.”  We are also bringing back the homemade cookies and treats after the concert tradition to be able to fellowship with those who attend and further contribute to the Holiday atmosphere.

Grateful Gathering

This past year, the women of Village Bible Church have been especially blessed by God’s grace and faithfulness. It has been a year filled with revelation and reflection, fellowship and celebration, feasting on the richness of God’s Word and sinking into the warmth and security of his steadfast faithfulness in the midst of our suffering.

 In this season of Thanksgiving, join us as we come together as fellow sisters in Christ and celebrate all the great things He has done. Enjoy a family style meal expertly prepared by our remarkable and unrivaled hospitality team, all free of charge!

 The program following the meal will center on developing and maintaining an attitude of gratitude. Then with hearts overflowing with gratefulness and spirits raised to the heavens we’ll give God all the glory as we hear how He has been working among us.

AARP Smart Driver Safety Class

Smart Driver Safety Course - Sign-up today! Class will be held at Village Bible Church.

The course teaches proven driving techniques to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road. You’ll learn important facts about the effects of medication on driving; how to reduce driver distractions; how to maintain the proper following distance; proper use of seatbelts, air bags, anti-lock brakes and new technology in cars today; tech-niques for handling left turns, right-of-way, and roundabouts; and age-related physical changes and how to adjust your driving to compensate. RSVP by October 31st to save your seat. Cost is $20.00 with AARP Card; and without AARP Card the cost is $25.00 (remember to bring your Driver’s License with you). Voice of the Martyrs Mission Trip

The trip is set for October 28th to November 1st.  We will be packaging literature for three days in the comfortable VOM warehouse, attending learning sessions about our persecuted brothers and sisters, and having fun and fellowship. Medipac Drive Wrap-up—If you missed giving to the Voice of the Martyr medipac drive and would like to make a donation, you can still do so. The donations will be taken to the Voice of the Martyrs headquarters when we go on our mission trip their facility in October. Join Take-A-Hike this month at Mt. Magazine State Park! They will be hiking at Mt. Magazine State Park . Everyone meet at Village Hardware Shopping Center at 8:30am on Saturday, and we will have lunch at The Lodge. While Shannon and Dinesh are visiting Village Bible Church, the Women’s Ministry will host a brunch for Shannon, her mother, and her daughter. Shannon is a native of Little Rock, where her mother still lives. VBC has supported Shannon and Dinesh for many years as they’ve ministered to Southeast Asia. If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet her and hear her story, you’ll want to be sure to attend this brunch. It will be a time to learn about the struggles and joys of serving on the mission field, as well as a time to show your support, encouragement, and love to this family . . . we hope to see you there!

Missions Trip to Costa Rica with Students International

We are almost ready! A team of 12 is making plans for our VBC mission trip September 14-22, 2024. In the southern part of San Jose, we will minister to the Desamparados or ‘Forgotten Ones’ of Costa Rica. Local host families will provide evening meals and lodging after our long days at the Ministry Sites. 

Even if you can’t GO, you can support those who are going with your prayers, encouragement, and gifts toward the trip. There are opportunities to give for specific projects and items to bring with us. Pray for VBC’s short-term mission tri team going to Costa Rica.

The Mylon Hayes Family Concert

Come celebrate with us! Make plans now to attend The Mylon Hayes Family Concert on August 31, 2024, at 7:00pm. All are invited to this FREE event sponsored by Village Bible Church, the doors will open for seating at 6:00pm. This family’s desire is to lift up the Lord with the music they sing, pointing people to the Cross. Jesus said in John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me”. He was lifted up on that cross and took our punishment because of His great love for us all. The Mylon Hayes Family hope you see Jesus and realize His great love for you in the songs they sing and the words they say.

Arrive, Connect, Thrive - ACT

The Village Bible Church class Arrive, Connect, Thrive - ACT (previously known as A Healthy Move) has been described as a lifeline and “a place to come meet your new best friends”. Designed to help women transition into a new phase of their lives. This class will address emotional, spiritual, social, and physical needs associated with changes. The fun and cozy atmosphere encourages interacting with others while learning about each other, our community, and the Bible. The group will have lunch together - brown bag, potluck, dining out. Field trips are planned. Join us for fun, food, and fellowship. This 9-week class will begin Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 9:00am-12:00pm, at Village Bible Church, 100 Ponderosa Way, Hot Springs Village, AR. For more information, please contact Terri Donnelly at 817-271-2862. To register, please contact Tammie Santos at 318-715-3404. Or, drop by our information table in the church foyer on August 4th, 11th,  and 18th. ACT now - registration for the Fall 2024 class closes on August 19, 2024.  Any registrations received after this date will be forwarded to the Spring 2025 class administrator.

Grief Share

This program at Village Bible Church offers help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member, or friend. Confidential sharing in a group setting can be instrumental in the healing process. The GriefShare program is a video seminar series that features some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics. There is a small group discussion about the weekly video content and a workbook for journaling and personal study exercises. Participants may join at any point during the 13 weeks.
